In General.

# Which languages do your instructors speak?

Each instructor teaching with Skischule Flachau speaks German and English. In addition to that and during peak seasons and holiday periods instruction is also available in Dutch and sometimes in Danish, Swedish, French, Spanish, Italian and Hungarian.

# Can we make advance reservations for Group Lessons?

You can reserve in advance for Group Lessons. Visit our website www.skischuleflachau.at. With advance reservations we will have all the information when you arrive at our sales office. We are also happy to take your request and compliance with your wish on instructors (subject to availability).

# Can we make advance reservations for Private Lessons?

We strongly recommend making reservations for Private Lessons. We are happy to take your request and compliance with your wish on skiing instructors (subject to availability).

# When do I pay for Group/Private Lessons?

Payments for Group and Private Lessons must be made in advance at one of our sales office or online. We will place a binding booking for you then.

# Where will Group Classes and Private Lessons take place?

First Time Beginners will start at one of the trial areas either at Hofleitnlift or Bingo Jet. Depending on skills and abilities we will ski blue runs for intermediate skiers. Our skischool pro's will take advanced clients on red and black slopes, offpiste, moguls, woods or any terrain in Flachau as well as on neighbouring valleys. 

# Do I have insurance in case of an accident?

Skischule Flachau does not insure its clients. You are obliged to insure yourself for third party liability. We recommend that you arrange an appropriate policy which also includes personal, medical and rescue insurance. 

Children's Skischool.

# What is the youngest age that can participate Child Lessons for skischool?

Toddlers Club for kids from 2 years of age. Kids 3-4 years of age will attend our Dinolino courses. Kids from 4 and up will be classified in our Kids classes. Dinolinos and older kids need to be potty-trained (no diaper needed). Please prepare your child for separation from Mom and Dad for the day or duration of class.

# How many kids are in a group?

Instructors will work with a maximum of 1 Toddler. Dinolino groups can reach up to 6 to 7 kids max. During high season and holiday periods First Timers can add up to 8 to 10 kids. Advanced kids can reach up to 8 to 12. Generally numbers of participants is lower. If necessary size of group will be diminished by splitting. 

# When does Group Classification start?

Every Subday and Monday for Advanced Kids and Freeskiing Kids & Teens at 9 o clock and Dinolinos and First Time Beginners at 9:30 o clock.

# Do kids need a lift ticket?

In the beginning Dinolinos and First Timers do not need a lift ticket. When kids are ready for T-bar or chairlift access you need to purchase a lift ticket according kids age. Instructors will give notification.

# Are lift tickets included with ski lessons/ski school?

Lift tickets are not included in the price of lessons. Everyone accessing the mountain must have a lift ticket.

# Is ski rental equipment included with kids lessons?

For kids born 2016 and younger equipment is included for the duration of course. Kids born 2015 and older you can book equipment 10% off with our partner rentalshops Sport 2000 Perner, Intersport Arena, Sport Stangl, Sportzeit Flachau. 

# Is lunch supervision included with kids lessons?

Lunch supervision is not included in the price of lessons. You can book at our sales office in advance or pay with the instructor before lesson. Please note: In the winterseason 2020/2021 we can not offer lunch supervision.

# Can I watch/ski with my child during lessons or ski school?

During the actual lesson time we recommend that parents observe from a distance to prevent the possibility of disrupting class! 

# Do kids need to wear a helmet?

Based on Austrian law children and teens age 15 and under must wear a winter sport protective helmet while participating in a ski or snowboard school lesson.

# Can kids start any day for classes?

Diinolinos and First Timers will start Sunday or Monday only. Intermediate and advanced kids and teens can join groups at any time.

# What kind of outdoor gear does your Ski School recommend?

Dress your child appropriate to weather conditions. Use warm and dry, waterproof gear. Comfortable mittens are better than gloves. Skimasks when necessary. Kids must wear helmets! Apply sunscreen with high SPF and sunglasses even with overcast sky! High quality goggles will keep wind and snow out of your children's eyes when snowing. We recommend putting Dinolinos and First Timers on a pair of skis that come up to roughly between their shoulder and their chin. Intermediate and advanced skiers should be using skis that stand between their shoulder and their chin and nose. Poles will only be needed for Intermediate and Advanced kids. Decide on skiboots with at least 2 to 4 buckles. The higher your kids skills of skiing the more buckles the boots need.

# Where and when do kids Group Lessons start?

Sunday and Monday all kids will meet for group classification at our meeting points in the valley. Children need to be dressed, ticketed and ready to ski. Students should be checked in no later than 9:00am that day. Any other days Dinolinos and First Timers will meet at our Kid's Zone. Advanced kids will start at our meeting point at the mountain station AchterJet gondola. Kids must be there by 9:30am, please allow a minimum of 35 minutes to reach the mountain meeting point and in the high season more.

# Where and when do courses end?

Courses usually end where started. Parents pick up is at 2:30pm for all Advanced Kids and 3:00pm for First Timers. Please let us know in the morning if you are not able to bring or pick up your children at the meeting point mountain station AchterJet gondola. We are happy to help and take the kids back to the valley.

# What happens if my child is sick and can't attend a ski lesson?

The ticket can be used on another day or refunded if the child is sick first thing in the morning.

# Where and when does the Final Race take place?

Kids Final Race will take place on Thursday at 10:00am either at Dinojet or at Jandlalm. Changes will be announced in due time by the skiing instructor.

# Where and when will the Award Ceremony be held?

Skischule Flachau Award Ceremony will be held on Thursday after the skiing lessons. Changes will be announced in due time by your skiing instructor.

Adults Skischool.

# When does Group Classification start?

Advanced Skiers at 9:00am on Sunday or Monday. First Time Beginners at 9:30am on Sunday only.

# Is there groups for every skill level?

Yes.  For good reason Snowlife and 1. Schischule Flachau have merged to provide our guests with highest quality and to get most out of their vacation. Upon arrival we will combine you with other guests of the same skill level with your zone.

# What level ski/snowboard lesson should I take? What level am I?

You should select a level that you are currently skiing/riding at, not what you want to become. All you need to select is Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced. We consider Beginners with no experience in skiing at all or only have skied for a few hours. Intermediate or Advanced skiers should at least be able to make curves on gentle slopes.

# Can adults start on any day for classes?

First Time Beginners will start Sunday only, Intermediate and Advanced skiers can join groups at any time.

# How many participants are in a group?

Group sizes can vary from 8 up to 10 people, during high season and holiday periods there can be up to 12 participants. Generally numbers of participants is lower.

# Do adults need to wear a helmet?

Wearing a helmet on the slopes reduces the chance of injury. We recommend wearing helmets.

Sunday and Monday all advanced clients will meet at 9:00am and all first time beginners at 9:30am for classification at our meeting points. On the second day First Time Beginners will start at the trial area Hofleitnlift at 10:00am. Advanced skiers will meet at the mountain station AchterJet gondola at 9:30am. Please allow a minimum of 35 minutes to reach the mountain meeting point.

Snowboard.

# What is the youngest age for a participant for snowboard school?

We start with kids from 8 years and up.

# How long does a snowboard course last?

During high season and holiday periods classes will be provided 4 hours on a daily basis, during low season on a 2 hour basis. Courses will start Sunday or Monday and can be booked up to 4 consecutive days.

Goup size can vary from 6 up to 10 persons. During high season and holiday periods group size occassionally can add up to 12 participants. Generally numbers of participants is lower.

# Do snowboarders need a lift ticket?

First Time Beginners do not need a lift ticket on the first day. Intermediate and Advanced riders must have a lift ticket for grouping.

Private Lessons.

# Where do I meet the instructor for Private Lessons?

Depending on skills and abilities Beginners will meet either at one of our meeting points basestation Starjet 1 near the Hofstadl or basestation Spacejet 1. Intermediate and advanced skiers will meet the instructor at our meeting place at the mountain station AchterJet gondola. Talk to our office staff, we are happy to find the perfect meeting spot for you. We are flexible to join you on any other locations on your request.

In the morning 2 or 3 consecutive lessons will start from 9:00am, afternoon lessons can be booked from 12:30pm. When booking full-day (4 and more) lessons you may choose the time of starting at your convenience.

# May I request who my ski/snowboard instructor is?

We are happy to take your request and compliance with your wish on skiing/snowboard instructors (subject to availabitlity).

# Will I be picked up at the hotel/accomodation?

As a special courtesy to our guests we are happy to pick you up at your hotel or accomodation when booking full-day (4 and more) Private Lessons. 

# Why are Private Lessons more efficient than Group Lessons?

Skischule Flachau provides highly experienced, motivated and qualified ski school pro's who continously receive internal education to guarantee efficient tuition. Tailored to your needs, Private Lessons will give you undivided attention and tuition to tune up your personal skills.

Lift tickets.

# Are lift tickets included with ski/snowboard courses?

Lift tickets are not included in the price of lessons. Everyone accessing the mountain must have a lift ticket.

# Where do I get lift tickets?

You may purchase lift tickets at the ticket counter at the base station of StarJet 1, AchterJet gondola, SpaceJet 1 (possibly with a waiting time).

Equipment Rentals.

# Is rental equipment included with ski/snowboard courses?

Like lift tickets, equipment rental is not included in the price of lessons. Guests booking with Skischule Flachau will get a 10% discount on all rentals with our partner rental shops.

# Where do I get equipment?

Get your ski/snowboard rentals at one of our nearby partner rental shops Sport 2000 Perner, Sport Stangl, Sportzeit Flachau, Intersport Arena.
